A Colorado daredevil skier died after he tried to jump more than 40 feet across a busy highway but fell short and ended up on the road.
Dallas LeBeau, 21, died Tuesday during the “risky stunt” over the U.S. 40 freeway on Berthoud Pass.
The emergency services were called around 3 p.m. to the report of an unconscious man.
Despite a bystander’s desperate attempts at CPR, LeBeau was pronounced dead at the scene.
‘He wanted to do things that no one else had done. He always said his birthday was the same day as Evil Knievel,” said childhood friend Devin Shirk VOC31referring to the famous motorcycle stuntman.

Investigators said the daredevil attempted the stunt but did not have the necessary speed and distance to clear the highway.
Traffic was closed in both directions while police worked on the scene.
A terrifying video posted just two weeks before his death shows LeBeau climbing the ramps and performing tricks including somersaults and jumps.
According to Shirk, he had been skiing since he was a sophomore GoFundMe to help cover funeral costs.
“Dallas was one of the most cheerful and friendly people you could ever meet,” the fundraiser said.
The donors include other close friends who have also paid tribute.

“Dallas has been my best friend since we met on the first day of the comp center,” Jaxson Holmes said.
“We’ve shared highs, lows and everything in between. I will miss his enthusiasm for doing the things he loved and his dedication to everyone in his life. Forever my best friend.’
‘I love this boy, I was on a team with him for five years and he was always one of the older ones who took me under his wing. Such a kind and funny person and the most amazing skier,” wrote teammate Declan Burt.
“The death of a backcountry skier on Berthoud Pass is a tragic accident and CSCUSA extends our sincere condolences to the victim’s family and friends,” Colorado Ski Country USA told FOX31.
“Whether it’s skiing, snowboarding or participating in another resort activity, we encourage everyone to keep safety top of mind as we move into the spring season.”
