The mother of a Colombian actress let two men into her home, where they tied her up, beat her and then stole her money.
Actress Johanna Fadul shared surveillance footage on her Instagram showing the suspects meeting her mother, María Fadul, at the gate while her two dogs briefly ran around outside the Bogotá home on Tuesday.
The video clip shows María Fadul giving the perpetrators a tour of the two-story house before being terrorized herself.
“I’m going to show you the faces of these miserable people. I need your help to report them,” Johanna Fadul said in the video. “Today it was my mother, tomorrow it could be anyone. This country is terribly unsafe.”
The actress, who is best known for her role in the hit series ‘Sin Senos No Hay Paradiso’ (Without Breasts There Is No Paradise), told Semana that the incident took place just two weeks after a man visited her mother’s neighbor and expressed interest in buying her house.

The same person also visited María’s house and they agreed to keep in touch with a view to a possible sale.
“Today a man called her and said that two other people wanted to view the house because they were interested in doing business, so she let them in,” said Johanna Fadul.
The concerned movie star said the suspects threatened her mother with a gun and a knife and then forced her into the bathroom, where they tied her to a chair.
The frightened María Fadul eventually gave in and told the suspects where they could find $2,700 in cash.
The suspects left the house with several computers, cell phones and even the keys to the house.

The Bogotá metropolitan police reported that an operation is underway to locate and arrest one of the two men wanted for a robbery at the home of María Fadul, the mother of Colombian actress Johanna Fadul.
They also wanted to steal her car, but luckily it was at a local garage for maintenance.
Johanna Fadul, who is currently not in Colombia, accused government leaders of failing to ensure the safety of residents.
“It’s a helplessness that you don’t know what to say, nor what to think,” she said. “It’s very bad, it’s very sad that in such a beautiful country, with such beautiful people, and because of three who are on stage, the country is the way it is,” she said.
‘And since they don’t suffer what people really suffer, what do they care, because in the end it’s not about them?’
Bogotá Police Commander Colonel Pedro Saavedra said an operation has been launched to identify and locate the two individuals.
“Our uniformed officers have all the operational and technological means to arrest these people, with material evidence such as videos,” he said in a statement.
The latest crime statistics from Bogotá authorities show that 2,651 home robberies were reported in the first six months of 2024, a 36 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.
