Colombian leader accidentally drops trouser during speech after his significant weight loss
This is the moment a mayor’s pants fell down while giving a speech in Colombia.
Jorge Chams, who recently lost weight, was addressing participants at an event commemorating the anniversary of a learning center in the city of Sabanalarga on Tuesday when the blooper was caught on camera.
Hams could be seen gripping the desk with his right hand while he reached down with his left hand to grab the pants.
A woman standing next to him came over to help him straighten the pants as he laughed at his own blooper.

Jorge Chams served as mayor of Sabanalarga from 2016 to 2019, returning to office after defeating three rivals in October’s elections
Meanwhile, several priests giggled in the background, while another gave him a warm handshake after the event’s host said: “A round of applause there for the mayor, a round of applause.”
Hams then whispered to the woman as they tried to tuck in his shirt to keep the pants from falling off his waist again.
“This will go down in history,” he joked. ‘Today I lost eight kilos.’
Local media reported that he had been participating in a weight-loss program in recent months. The eight kilos equates to about 17 pounds.

Jorge Chams claimed he has lost ‘eight kilos’ since taking part in a weight-loss programme. That amounts to approximately 17 kilos
Chams previously served as mayor from 2016 to 2019 and defeated three rivals in the October 2023 elections to become mayor again.
He came under scrutiny in December 2018 when the attorney general’s office alleged his office committed irregularities with a $300,000 public works contract.
The contractor to whom the contract was awarded never fulfilled the agreement by paving one of the city roads, the Public Prosecution Service has noted.
The Chams government also failed to confront the contractor and did not impose sanctions or fines as required by law.
