College football star Ryan Pellum arrested over alleged ‘pistol-whip’ and gunfire incident on Christmas Day

Former Oregon Wide Receiver Ryan Pellum has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of hitting someone in the head with a gun and then shooting two bullets.

According to Oregon LivePellum, who recently entered the transfer portal, is charged with assault with use of a firearm over the Christmas Day incident.

He was detained near the Oregon campus in Eugene earlier this week, but the alleged attack took place in his hometown of Long Beach, California.

Pellum is said to appear in court in California later this month, with police alleging he pistol-whipped someone with a 9mm handgun, leaving the victim requiring stitches in the head.

The freshman, who spent one season with the Oregon Ducks, is then accused of firing two shots from the gun in an unknown direction.

Pellum is the cousin of former Oregon linebacker Don Pellum, who is currently the defensive coordinator for the Ducks.

According to reports, bail has been posted by an unknown person for Pellum, who was arrested after police in Long Beach issued an extradition warrant.

The freshman was part of an Oregon team that was the No. 1 seed heading into the college football playoffs.

The Ducks enjoyed a 13-0 regular season, tying a school record for wins in a single season as they won the Big 10. But Oregon was defeated in the playoffs by No. 6 Oregon State.

Elsewhere, it emerged on Friday that LSU receiver Kyren Lacy – tipped as a first-round pick in the NFL Draft – is wanted by police.

Police have issued an arrest warrant for the 24-year-old, who they say was involved in a fatal car crash.

It is alleged that Lacy’s speeding on the highway near Lafourche Parish caused a crash around 10 a.m. on December 17 that killed Herman Hall, a 78-year-old former Marine, and injured two others.
