A possum interrupted the football rivalry game between TCU and Texas Tech, storming onto the field and refusing to leave before eventually being captured, as college football fans went berserk over the chaotic moment.
The marsupial ran onto the starting field early in the second quarter of Thursday night’s game at Jones AT&T Stadium in Lubbock, leaving spectators in awe of its speed and decision to cross freely.
The Fox Sports broadcast picked up the frantic chase to capture the relatively harmless creature with the score at 7-7.
“Rodents of unusual size are showing up in Lubbock. That just happened. We had a possum on the 15 yard line,” said one of the two FS1 commentators in the booth, despite incorrectly labeling the possum’s infra class.
“He was not happy about being escorted out of the stadium.”

It didn’t take long to chase the possum, but fans couldn’t help but feel sorry for the beast as it hung from the pitch by its sharp claws as it was dragged away by some sort of hook.
“He paid his ticket just like everyone else,” one user on X commented, in defense of the animal.
“Bro just wanted to be part of the team lol,” another commented after describing the moment as “hilarious.”
“What was the play call?” another fan joked.
‘He just wants to play. Give him the football. He wants that touchdown so bad,” one person said.
“More fun than the game,” another joked.
Fans on X, formerly known as Twitter, fully supported stealing the possum’s spotlight
The rivalry between Texas Tech and TCU goes way back, to 1926. TCU won the very first game between the two teams that year, 28-16.
However, the Red Raiders have the overall advantage in the historic series, 32-30-3, and the longest winning streak (6) in the rivalry.
Texas Tech emerged victorious again Thursday night, winning the final rivalry game 35-28.
