Colin Fassnidge shows off his special hidden talent as he shares throwback images of his days as a ‘rocker’

Celebrity chef Colin Fassnidge has taken to social media to show off a ‘hidden talent’.

The 51-year-old food guru shared throwback images of himself as a young rocker.

A photo captioned “1994” shows him on stage playing drums in a band, his signature curly dark locks hidden beneath a baseball cap.

Meanwhile, Colin shared a second photo in which the future reality star is easily recognizable as the My Kitchen Rules favorite.

In the decades-old photo, captioned “The Rock Garden,” Colin can be seen biting his lip in concentration as he plays along with band members.

And to show that he has lost none of his musical gifts, the Irishman also posted a new clip of himself in the Instagram story.

Filmed in black and white, Colin, dressed in a tight T-shirt and shorts, can be seen banging away on a lavish drum kit without any musical accompaniment.

It comes after Colin’s MKR buddy Manu Feildel, 50, opened up about his old feud with his co-star and admitted that it’s all water under the bridge now.

Appearing on Jess Rowe’s Big Talk Show podcast, the French chef said the war of words started when Colin was less than impressed with a meal he received while dining at his Bilson’s Restaurant in Sydney.

After moving from France to Australia in 1999 and cutting his teeth in several Australian restaurants, Manu opened the kitchen as head chef at the now defunct Sydney restaurant.

Manu told host Jess that Colin was quick to express his displeasure about his dining experience on X, formerly known as Twitter.

“He came to Bilson’s restaurant and he wasn’t happy with his meal and we got two hats at the time,” Manu said.

“I think he said something like I was a clown and I should go back to France, hang up my coat and learn to cook.”

Manu added that it was Colin who continued to add fuel to the social media fire as he loves to ‘poke the bear’.

‘We never met, we just knew [of] each other,” Manu said.

“He loved the war on social media. He’s addicted to it. That’s his life, he just likes to poke the bear.”

Manu admitted he was stunned when he was told Colin would be joining the cast of My Kitchen Rules.

But it seems like producers knew exactly what they were doing, and gambled that the off-screen tension between the two would translate into golden ratings.

‘That was the start of a fight. I think it was a one-way fight where he kept going at me,” Manu said.

“One day, MKR production decided to bring in a third judge and it was announced it would be Colin Fassnidge.”

‘I said to the producers, ‘Are you kidding me? The man hates my guts,’ and they said, ‘We know.’

Wanting to make the best of it, Manu said when Colin arrived for his first day of filming, he welcomed the Irish-born chef with open arms.

“I always felt so comfortable in my shoes, even though I had been there for about eight years,” he said.

“When he came in, I welcomed him at the door. I said, “welcome to MKR.” I said that I found this very difficult at first and that ‘if you need anything from me, please feel free to call.’

Manu’s words proved to be just the right vehicle to broker a peace agreement between the two, with Colin ultimately apologizing for his past behavior.

“After that year of production ended, he knocked on my door after the grand finale and said, ‘I want to apologize for being an asshole,’ and we’ve become good friends ever since,” the celebrity chef said.

Colin joined the MKR team in 2013 as a judge on the Kitchen HQ cooking and finals rounds.

In 2020 he became one of the main judges alongside Manu and Pete Evans before returning to his former MKR role in 2022 alongside Curtis Stone and Gary Mehigan.

Following Pete Evans’ controversial departure, Colin once again became head judge and co-host for the 2023 season of the hit reality show.

In a new episode of Charlie Albone’s podcast That’s How We Grow, the pair reflected on how they managed to build a friendship from the ashes.

“Let’s start the chase, we haven’t gone any further. Maybe I called him… something on Twitter, I gave him a… beep…” Colin said.

‘Then Ricky, who made MKR, called and I said, “I don’t want to be a TV chef, I want to be a real chef.”

Manu added that Colin saw TV chefs as ‘w**kers’ and the pair were ‘not friends’ when they first worked together.

The pair revealed they started off on the wrong foot after Colin took aim at Manu before the show.

‘The salty secret is that Colin and I started on the wrong foot. Because when I started TV, most chefs in the industry thought I had sold my soul,” Manu said.

Colin added: ‘I said it’s sold out.’

Explaining the criticism, Manu said: “They said I was no longer a chef, but a TV celebrity.”
