My Kitchen Rules star Colin Fassnidge has revealed the best places to eat in Australia – and the one cafe he ‘always’ visits for ‘great’ coffee.

The Irish chef named Thai family restaurant Porkfat in Sydney’s Haymarket the ‘best restaurant’ in the country.

“I took Nigella Lawson there last year and she (still) raves about it now,” Fassnidge told Secondz, an Australian restaurant recommendation app.

The establishment has received hundreds of five-star reviews from foodies who praised the restaurant’s set menu, atmosphere and service.

“This is the best Thai restaurant I’ve ever been to,” said one. ‘Very spicy flavors and absolutely delicious. The pork cheek is a must try, as is their homemade coconut ice cream dessert, which is divine.”

The celebrity chef named Billy’s Bar Espresso in Maroubra as the place for the best coffee in Sydney.

Australians are very picky when it comes to their coffee, and regularly condemn foreigners who claim that the coffee from Down Under is not of the highest quality.

‘[Billy is a] He makes a very loud coffee maker, he never shuts up,” Fassnidge joked. “But he makes great coffee.”

The chef’s order is a flat white with a triple shot of espresso.

When it comes to Sydney’s best pub, Fassnidge can’t get enough of The Red Lion in Rozelle.

The cozy place is decorated with elegant furniture and artwork on the walls.

Locals frequent the pub for weekly events such as Tuesday trivia nights and happy hour.

The Red Lion also features an upstairs bistro for those who want a slightly more upscale menu option without the high price tag.

“By far one of the best pubs in Sydney,” said one five-star reviewer. ‘I’ve been coming here every week for years.’

Nude Pizza and Big Bunz are among Fassnidge’s favorite Malabar restaurants located in his area.

The small eateries are known for preparing their food from scratch and using top quality Australian ingredients.

“Big Bunz is such a gem – the best burgers in Sydney,” said one foodie.

“The ingredients are fresh, the patties are cooked to perfection with just the right amount of flavor and smokiness, but the unsung hero is the signature sauces made in-house.”
