The news was announced by Variety’s senior editor for culture and events, Marc Malkin, in a cheep posted Saturday night but did not cite a particular source.

Colin, 46, is up for the Best Actor gong for his performance in The Banshees of Inisherin, while Brendan, 67, will be up for the Best Supporting Actor category.

But the film and its stars face stiff competition from other critical favorites like Tár, Elvis, The Whale, The Fabelmans and Everything Everywhere All at Once.
