Coleen Rooney reflects on ‘draining’ and ‘stressful’ Wagatha Christie trial as she reveals her reaction to winning the infamous case against former pal Rebekah Vardy

Coleen Rooney reflected on the 'exhaustive' and 'stressful' Wagatha Christie trial in an interview on BBC Breakfast on Tuesday morning.

The 37-year-old WAG won her case against former boyfriend Rebekah Vardy in May 2022 – and has since spoken out about the trial in a new documentary and autobiography.

In 2019, Coleen, 36, publicly accused Rebekah of leaking stories from her personal Instagram account to The Sun newspaper, sparking a war in the High Court, in which Coleen prevailed – as detailed in the critically acclaimed documentary.

Speaking about the Wagatha process, Coleen said: 'It was just exhausting and so stressful. It was the unknown that went into it.

“I had never been in court before, I had never seen a courtroom. I just didn't know what to expect. It was all new and it was scary, it was emotional.”

She went on to say that she was alone in the car when the verdict was handed down and described her reaction after months of stressful waiting.

She said: 'My phone started pinging and said, 'Congratulations, we're so happy for you.'

'It was a bit surreal. I just sat there alone in the car. I didn't know whether to celebrate or cry. I was a little numb.

“Since the ruling, the support has been incredible. I am grateful for that. When the verdict was announced, I thought it was time to tell my story. It's my story to tell.'

Her new book, My Account Coleen Rooney The Autobiography, chronicles Wagatha Christie's libel battle from her side.

In her new publication, she gives fans insight into the 2022 trial and also provides a 'complete account' of her life, from childhood to more recent events.

Coleen said she wasn't worried about sharing intimate details with the world: 'Why not tell my side of it? I have been in the press for over twenty years.

'Even though I'm in the newspapers and stuff day in and day out, they don't really know me as the person I think in the book, so hopefully they bring me a lot more.'

Rebekah, 41, famously took Coleen to the High Court for defamation – and lost – after Coleen claimed in October 2019 that stories about her had been leaked to the press via Rebekah's social media account.

Publisher Penguin describes Coleen's autobiography as follows: 'Here she tells how she first suspected someone had betrayed her trust (and how devastated it left her), and then the painstaking steps she took to identify and entrap her suspect. lure and eventually reveal it to the world. .

'As the fallout plays out across the world and Coleen unwittingly finds herself in a devastating court case whose outcome was far from certain, she can only now candidly tell us her side of the story.'

Coleen added in the press release: 'It was the biggest thing that had ever happened to me, and like nothing I had ever experienced.

'Looking back on it now, it still amazes me how bloated it all became, how ridiculous, how serious. That's why I have to give a full account of what happened.”

It comes after the release of her Disney+ series Coleen Rooney: The Real Wagatha Story last month.

It offered an inside story on what exactly happened between warring WAGs Coleen and Rebekah.

Coleen revealed she felt compelled to make the show to explain the situation 'in her own words' and didn't hold back as she told the story from start to finish.

Coleen has released a new autobiography, which sheds light on various incidents from her life

When her first leaked post came out in 2017, the mother of four revealed that there had been a lot of drama behind closed doors in the five years leading up to the famous Wagatha Christie trial.

Now that a judge has ruled in Coleen's favor after Rebekah sued her for defamation, she revealed the key elements to winning her case and exactly how she managed to expose Rebekah's deception in a two-year solo investigation .

Coleen's autobiography shares intimate details of her life, including how she felt 'hurt and ashamed' when she learned her husband Wayne had used prostitutes at a massage parlor in Liverpool.

The incident took place in 2002, when the former England captain was 16. Coleen described it as a 'terrible dream' and admitted she couldn't decide if the relationship had a future.

She said: 'The whole story was that when Wayne was 16 he had visited prostitutes in a massage parlor in Liverpool. When Wayne told me it was true and that the story was about to appear in the national press, I was confused and hurt. I couldn't even talk to him.

“More than that, I felt ashamed.”

Mrs Rooney, 37, then a teenager, told how she worried about what others would think of Wayne's behaviour.

'Everyone knew and everyone seemed to have an opinion. I sat with everything swirling around me like a terrible dream, unable to decide what was best or what I wanted.

“A voice inside me told me not to rush into anything or make a decision in the midst of my anger.

“It was heartbreaking enough to have to deal with stuff like that, but I was eighteen years old. I was upset and confused because I didn't know what to think or how others would react.

'I didn't know how I felt about Wayne anymore. Plus, I knew my family's instinct would be to protect me, and no matter how you looked at it, this was not a good impression.”

Coleen eventually decided to accept Wayne's apology and they have been together ever since.

The couple, who have four children – Kai, 14, Klay, ten, Kit, seven, and Cass, five – got together when they were teenagers after Wayne repeatedly asked the now WAG out.

She finally agreed and they went to see an Austin Powers movie and then had McDonalds.

They got engaged in October 2003 when Rooney proposed at an Esso gas station while on their way for a meal at a Chinese restaurant. They married in the summer of 2008.
