Coldplay to play one-off Perth show for Music of the Spheres World Tour

Coldplay will bring their Music of the Spheres World Tour to Australia in November with a one-off show in Perth

Coldplay announced on Tuesday that they will be bringing their Music of the Spheres World Tour to Perth in November for a special one-off performance.

The British rock band posted a video to YouTube telling their 25 million subscribers that they will be performing at Perth’s Optus Stadium on Saturday, November 18.

They last performed in Australia in 2016, and this concert is their first in the WA capital since February 2009.

Western Australian fans were excited about the news.

“Coldplay haven’t played here since 2009, so it’s great to finally see them live again at our fantastic Optus Stadium,” said one.

Aussie fans from other states complained that the one-off date meant they would miss the band’s performance.

‘Nowhere else in Aus? Come on guys!’ one fan lamented, while another wrote, ‘The tour will definitely be Australia? Please don’t mess around.’

In August, Shane Warne’s eldest daughter, Brooke, was given a backstage pass to deal with Coldplay after watching them perform at London’s Wembley Stadium.

The 25-year-old, who was on holiday in England with boyfriend Alex Heath, was invited backstage by frontman Chris Martin, a friend of Brooke’s father.

Brooke hugged her dad’s mate in a bear hug as she beamed from ear to ear.

She posted photos to Instagram of herself and Alex spending quality time with the band, while Chris seemed elated to catch up with Shane’s daughter.

Brooke wrote in the caption, “Two of the most incredible nights with some very special people. Thank you, Chris, for all the happiness you bring to everyone around you.

‘We love you. Coldplay will forever be my favorite concert of all time!’

Chris, 46, performed a haunting rendition of Coldplay’s Yellow at Shane’s memorial service in March last year.

The pair have been close friends since they met in a hotel elevator in 2001.

Chris even appeared in the movie Shane, the January 2022 documentary about the life of the sports legend.
