Coldplay fans brought to tears as Chris Martin pulls fan on stage to sing tribute to late friend
Coldplay fans were moved to tears on Wednesday after singer Chris Martin pulled a fan onto the stage to pay tribute to his late friend.
The Paradise singer, 46, who is currently in the midst of his band’s Music Of The Sphere world tour, made sure the first of his two nights in Cardiff was one to remember.
Halfway through his set, the musician noticed a man in the crowd holding up a banner asking to join the singer in singing in honor of his deceased friend.
The sign read, “Play Everglow with me for my best friend in heaven.”
A concertgoer was able to catch the moment on camera when the man, named Salir, joined Chris onstage behind his piano for a rendition of the band’s song.

In the clip, Chris, donning a tie-dyed T-shirt, asked, referring to the sign, “When did he die?”
Salir then informed the singer that it had only been a month since he lost his friend.
Reacting to the sad news, Chris said, “Last month. Okay dude. S**t.
“Well, we’re going to sing this to him together, okay?”
As the pair prepared to begin the song, the stadium can be seen erupting in cheers, with Salir nodding in delight.
Just before the start, Chris joked: ‘The song Everglow from Coldplay? Just to be clear.’
Salir can then be seen laughing as he waves to the crowd, before the lights dim and Chris begins to sing.
Chris then thanked him for coming, adding, “Right now you’re representing everyone else.”

Chris pulled him in for a hug and added, “This is how I feel about the audience.
‘I’m going to hear you sing. If I think you’re good enough, I’ll move the mic closer to you, and if I think you’re awful, we’ll give you a very polite smile and keep the mic that way.’
The clip then cuts to the middle of the song where the pair can be seen singing, with Salir placing his hand on his chest and closing his eyes.
He then raises his hand and calls his friend as Chris pushes the microphone closer to him.
Camerawoman Ella posted the video to social media, writing: “#bestconcertmoments #onstageperformance.”
The touching video garnered more than 1,650 likes and dozens of comments from fans in awe of the emotional tribute.
One person wrote, “Sobbing now.”
Another said: ‘You could have heard a pin drop between 70,000 people. It was unbelievable.’
A third commented, “I was there that night and it was absolutely beautiful. Earlier someone had asked him if he was still depressed, he said not at the moment.’
Another said, “I’m crying. The look on his face as he looked up, his friend was so loved.”
Explaining her clip, Ella said, “So the kid was in the crowd and Chris Martin said, ‘I’m going to read your signs’ and he went ahead and read everyone’s signs.”
The man had a sign that read, “Can you join me in singing Everglow for my friend in heaven”.
So, Chris Martin brought him on stage and sang it with him.
“It was really great and it felt good to be part of an atmosphere where the guy would feel supported and comfortable.
