An alleged pedophile and groomer has been accused of using threats to coerce a 15-year-old girl into violent and sexual acts.

Detectives from the NSW Police Sex Crimes Squad arrested the 28-year-old man on Wednesday at Safety Beach, about 30km north of Coffs Harbour, following an investigation that began in August.

“It is alleged that the man was grooming a 15-year-old girl he met online and threatened to send her videos of herself performing compromising acts such as self-harm and sexual acts,” police said on Thursday morning. .

‘During a search, police found and seized various electronic devices, which will undergo further forensic examination.’

He was taken to Coffs Harbor Police Station and charged with using a carriage service to engage in sexual activity with a child, to harm or plan to harm a person under the age of 16, to harm a person under the age of 16 groom for sex, to threaten murder. , to threaten serious harm, to send indecent material to a person under the age of 16 and to induce a child to engage in sexual activity.

He was refused bail and appeared in Coffs Harbor Local Court on Wednesday.

“Sadistic sextortion is different from typical cases of sextortion because the perpetrator does not do it for financial gain, but victims are forced to produce extremely sexual and violent content,” he said.

‘We want children to know that there is always someone to listen to you and that we can do things to get you out of any situation, no matter how scary it is or what the perpetrator tells you.

‘I hope this incident also serves as a warning to parents who are aware that their children are engaging in self-harm, that there may be deeper reasons for this that need to be explored with them in a supportive way.’
