Coffee crisis as Starbucks app goes down for Americans heading to work

Starbucks’ mobile app went down Friday, impacting Americans heading to work less than a day after the new holiday menu dropped.

Downdetector, which tracks app and website outages, reported that more than 2,500 customers complained about problems with the app as of about 7 a.m. ET.

The outage has spread across the US, affecting customers in major cities such as New York, Dallas, Washington, DC and Boston.

Starbucks released highly anticipated holiday favorites like Gingerbread Oat Milk Chai and Peppermint Mocha on Thursday, which may have caused the app to crash.

“Can’t select a store to order from, menu isn’t there,” one irate Starbucks customer complained on DownDetector.

“I want to see what new holiday drinks they have, but I can’t because I can’t select a location,” another customer wrote.

Meanwhile, other customers expressed outrage that the app has been bad since Starbucks released its holiday menu.
