Cody Simpson shares his grueling workout – after poor results in the championship swimming shattered his Olympic dream
Pop star turned professional swimmer Cody Simpson has revealed the intense workout routine behind his champion physique.
The 26-year-old gave all the details in an Instagram post, encouraging followers to keep up with their fitness routines.
“The destination is the journey, how it shapes you, helps you grow. Build your body and mind while you are young,” he wrote.
“Choose a path that increases your awareness and capacity daily. Your future self will thank you.
“Regardless of the outcome, I am so grateful for what my journey as a swimmer teaches me – indispensable tools and lessons of perseverance that I will use throughout my life as a musician, businessman, friend and human being.”
In the clips, Cody can be seen lifting weights, doing push-ups and weighted pull-ups.
Commentators were quick to lend their support to the extreme efforts, with one calling Cody a “beast.”
Australia’s Cody Simpson competed in the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
“Deserved so much respect from the public – you are incredible,” one person wrote.
“Seeing your work ethic really gives me an extra boost to strive for more success in life,” added another.
It comes after the former singer dropped out of the Australian swimming championships last week with a result that has left his Olympic dreams in doubt.
He finished eighth in the 100-meter butterfly final with a time of 53.48 seconds – two seconds slower than national champion Matthew Temple.
From here, Cody’s best shot at an Olympic berth could be the 100-meter freestyle as a relay swimmer.
