Cody Simpson leaves major clue about his swimming future at Australian Short Course Championships

Cody Simpson hinted Wednesday that he is preparing to retire from his swimming career.

The star athlete, 26, shared a photo of the medals he won at the recent Australian Short Course Championships on Instagram and captioned it with a few telling words.

“My second and last Australian short course champions. This is real,” he wrote alongside the medals.

He also shared a video of himself competing at the Sydney Championships and said he thought he performed well given his exhaustion.

“I was delighted to be relatively close to my personal bests even though I was tired in training. I thought I’d share a video with my American friends who always wonder what I’m doing.

Cody rose to fame in 2009 as a pop singer and shocked his fans a decade later when he announced he was broadening his career to focus on swimming.

In June, Cody and his Olympian girlfriend Emma McKeon recently celebrated their first anniversary by purchasing their first home together.

The couple went “Instagram official” with their relationship in July last year, three months after they began dating in secret.

The star athlete, 26, shared a photo of the medals he won at the recent Australian Short Course Championships on Instagram and captioned it with a few telling words.

Days after going public, the couple found themselves embroiled in a “love triangle” with Emma’s ex-boyfriend and Australian team member Kyle Chalmers.

At the time, it was claimed Kyle had blocked Cody’s entry into the Australian Dolphins ranks for the World Championships in Hungary after learning of their relationship.

Kyle initially made the decision not to travel to Hungary for the competition, but reversed course after his ex’s relationship with Cody became public.

“My second and last Australian short course champions. This is real,” he wrote alongside the medals.

However, he vehemently denied any suggestion that the decision was due to a personal vendetta against the former pop star.

Cody then got a “one” over Kyle when he was named to the top ten shortlist for the GQ Sportsman of the Year award, while Kyle missed out.

The musician and swimmer has previously said he hopes to turn his Olympic dream into reality in Paris in 2024.

He also shared a video of himself competing at the Sydney Championships and commented that he thought he performed well given his exhaustion.
