Coachella’s 2025 lineup leaves millennials feeling old in viral meme: ‘Your real age is 70’

A viral meme is making the rounds on social media, poking fun at millennials who don’t recognize any of the musicians on the packed 2025 Coachella lineup.

Fans were divided when the lineup was announced last Wednesday morning, with Travis Scott, Post Malone, Lady Gaga and Green Day all set to perform at the famed festival in Indio, California.

At the time of the announcement, music fans flocked to X (formerly Twitter) to voice their complaints, with one person saying it was ‘washed up artists as headliners’ and another called it a ‘snoozefest’.

One person tweeted: ‘I’ve reached the age where I know six of these names.’

Now the Facebook page Millennial misery has shared a viral meme poking fun at the seemingly unreachable generation.

Commentators sprung into action when they barely recognized the names of any of the artists performing.

The meme read: “Your real age is 70 minus the number of musicians you recognize at Coachella 2025.”

The social media page has 20,000 followers and the tagline reads: ‘Nostalgia is a drug I don’t mind abusing.’

Millennials, aged 28 to 43, flocked to the comments to do the calculations and see how old they would be according to the funny formula.

“55 but I have to add a year because I was so shocked that TPain is so small,” one commenter said of the rapper, who was wildly popular in the mid-2000s with songs like Get Low.

“58… and half the songs I recognize I don’t listen to, I’ve only heard of them,” someone else admitted, which turned out to be a popular answer.

But even some Gen Z members didn’t recognize the performances.

“So I’m actually 18, but apparently I’m 62,” said one Facebook user.

“60 and I am literally the best age for these things,” one shocked woman wrote.

Many older millennials have their own age, with one writing, “I’m 41. I’ll be 41 in April.” I’m fine with this.’

Some people were just disappointed with the line-up in general, with one saying: ‘This would mean something if any of those acts were good.’

However, many millennials appreciated the musicians who played at the festival, which takes place April 11-13 and the weekend of April 18-20.

Many were especially excited to see Lady Gaga return after previously headlining both weekends in 2017.

Others couldn’t wait to see nostalgic alternative acts like Misfits, Jimmy Eat World and Green Day.

Some were thrilled that child performers Yo Gabba Gabba would be there, joking that they had to sit in the pit for that performance.

On X, one person tweeted, “This Coachella lineup is for millennial punks/emos.”

Another joked, “Coachella is so millennial coded. That Aarp sponsorship is certain for 2035.’
