CNN’s Jake Tapper has been tapped to take over Chris Cuomo’s old 9pm primetime slot – the latest in a series of sweeping changes being made by the network as it seems to be throwing off its perception of being too liberal.

Tapper, the outlet’s lead anchor in Washington, will man the sacred timeslot during this year’s midterm elections, the network announced in a statement Thursday, beginning Oct. 10 and continuing through Nov. 11.

Although temporary, the job – which was held by Cuomo until he was rejected for helping brother Andrew through his sexual misconduct scandal – could become permanent as Tapper, 53, attracts viewers.

Valuations for the hour have suffered since Cuomo’s ouster last December, with the network failing to fill the slot long associated with the host, which is poised to begin a new job as an anchor for nonpartisan network NewsNation. in October.

The slot has since been staffed by a series of rotating hosts, but hasn’t collected the numbers it did under 52-year-old Cuomo.

It also comes days after CNN announced a “reimagined” morning show featuring Trump-hating anchor Don Lemon — despite new CEO Chris Licht’s pledges to clear the network of left-wing commentary and restore trust in the media.

Jake Tapper, CNN's lead anchor in Washington, will man the sacred timeslot during this year's midterm elections, the network announced in a statement Thursday, beginning Oct. 10.

Jake Tapper, CNN’s lead anchor in Washington, will man the sacred timeslot during this year’s midterm elections, the network announced in a statement Thursday, beginning Oct. 10.

“The world has come to rely on Jake’s no-nonsense approach to covering the news, especially during high-stakes election cycles,” CEO Licht said in a statement announcing the latest uproar at the famed liberal network.

“This move will showcase its hard-hitting reporting, clever analysis and consistent interviews as our audience navigates the myriad of issues at stake during midterm exams,” the CEO added.

Licht, who headed Stephen Colbert’s Late Show for six years until it was announced last February that he would also replace ousted boss Jeff Zucker, added that in addition to the 9:00 p.m. change, host Alisyn Camerota and legal analyst Laura Coates will share the time from 10 p.m. to 12 p.m. lock – a message that Lemon will leave.

“By adding the insights, experience and strong voices of Alisyn and Laura, we will continue and expand that coverage, creating something complementary and immersive in primetime,” Licht said of Camerota and Coates.
