EXCLUSIVE: CNN’s ‘Golden boy’ producer Jake Tapper is fired along with subordinate after ‘inappropriate relationship’ was uncovered amid claims of ‘grievances’ from other employees
- Federico Quadrani, a 10-year veteran of the network, was fired after details of the affair came to light.
- Quadrani was about to be cleared by Human Resources in a separate investigation when evidence emerged.
- The firing came a year after Jeff Zucker was ousted over a relationship with CNN’s top executive, Allison Gollust.
CNN top producer Federico Quadrani is reportedly on the network following the discovery of an inappropriate relationship with a subordinate.
The subordinate, a mid-level executive, was also fired.
Quadrani served as executive producer for Jake Tapper for 10 years and previously worked for MSNBC, where he was considered a “golden boy.”
The producer, who is in his early 50s, joined the network in 2013 and relocated from New York to the nation’s capital. During his time at NBC, he had worked on “The Today Show” with ousted CNN executive Jeff Zucker.
Jake Tapper’s executive producer, Federico Quadrani, was fired last week after an affair with a female subordinate.
Tapper was presented with indisputable evidence of the matter, which went to Human Resources, leading to the termination of both parties.
Zucker was fired from his top job at CNN last year over a relationship with executive Allison Gollust.
the new york post office reported that Quadrani was fired last week after news broke that he had been dating a staff member. Quadrani is married to Elena Quadrani and the couple lives in Bethesda, Maryland.
It’s unclear how much Quadrani was paid for his longtime role on the network, but his home, purchased in 2017, is currently valued at $1.26 million.
The Post reported that Quadrani was already under investigation by the network’s human resources department due to rumors of an “inappropriate relationship with a senior producer.”
‘There were some complaints. No one had proof, and these things are hard to prove,” a source told the tabloid.
“Jake was aware of the investigation,” the source said.
However, when Quadrani was on his way to an HR clearance, Tapper was presented with evidence of an affair that he “couldn’t ignore.”
Tapper, a straight man, does not tolerate unprincipled sexual behavior from employees working on his show, prompting him to take the evidence directly to Human Resources and resulting in both employees being fired.

The firings come a year after the firing of Jeff Zucker over a relationship with CNN’s top executive, Allison Gollust.
CNN insiders say they are surprised anyone would get involved in a workplace affair after Zucker and Gollust were publicly exposed.
Quadrani spent 10 years as Tapper’s EP and previously worked on MSNBC and ABC’s ‘Good Morning America.’

When approached, CNN officially “declined to comment on personnel-related matters.”
But sources inside the network say they are surprised Quadrani and the executive got involved in such an affair just a year after Zucker and Gollust left the company for a similar pattern of behavior.
The publication reported that even though both halves of the workplace romance were absent from CNN’s Washington bureau last week, “they are consenting adults and no one particularly feels this is a big scandal.”
Quadrani’s social media accounts still say he is the executive producer of The Lead with Jake Tapper, but his employee page appears to have been removed from the website.
