CNN’s Ana Navarro has criticized fellow Latinos who support Donald Trump, labeling their stance on immigration as “very stupid.”
Navarro suggested that some Latino immigrants seem to forget their own immigrant roots and mistakenly believe that being anti-immigrant will help them better assimilate into American society.
Speaking on CNN on Friday evening, Navarro expressed her frustration with such a mentality, saying it only serves to highlight how it contributes to a divisive atmosphere.
“There are Latino immigrants who forget that they came here as immigrants and want to close the door behind them, thinking that their anti-immigrant behavior will somehow make them pass for more American, for whatever . And that is a very stupid attitude.’
Navarro cited the 2019 mass shooting in El Paso, Texas, where a gunman targeted Hispanics, to underscore her point.
She emphasized that when racists attack Latinos, they do not care about their immigration status or accent and simply see them as part of a group they despise.
“What people don’t realize is that when the guy drives thousands of miles to prey on Latinos in a Walmart in Texas, he doesn’t care when you got here. He doesn’t care what your accent is,” Navarro said.
‘What he’s looking for is: does it look like me, does it sound like me? That’s what he’s looking for. So you know, when people are against something, they’re not asking for your papers, they’re just against that group.”
The former Republican strategist, known for her sharp criticism of the Republican Party, argued that Latino support for anti-immigrant rhetoric is misleading.
The conversation on CNN came after a pro-Trump rally in the Bronx, New York, which has traditionally been a Democratic stronghold.
Local media suggested between 8,000 and 10,000 people would attend, but the Trump campaign put their numbers at more than 25,000.
The event attracted a diverse audience, including many Black and Latino Americans concerned about illegal immigration, crime and inflation under President Biden.
Despite the diversity of the crowd, Trump continued to deliver his harsh rhetoric on immigration, which Navarro and CNN host Jim Acosta both condemned as inflammatory and divisive.

Navarro expressed her frustration that many people overlook Trump’s racist and misogynistic behavior and view it as part of his personality rather than recognizing its harmful impact on society.
“People already know the guy is a misogynist, they already know he’s a racist, they already know he’s divisive, and they don’t seem to take him literally or seriously,” Navarro said. “They think it’s part of a clown act entertainment.”
Navarro, who has been outspoken in her opposition to Trump and often advocates for Democratic candidates, said she believes Trump’s apparent increase in support among such demographic groups is a celebration because of the public’s tendency to dismiss Trump’s controversial comments as mere entertainment, rather than taking them seriously. .
