CNN host Wolf Blitzer roasted for NFL TV setup after fans spot ‘veteran’ detail

CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer may have been happy with the Buffalo Bills’ outcome on Sunday, but NFL fans weren’t as impressed with the way he watched the game.

Blitzer, a lifelong Buffalo fan, watched from the comfort of his couch on Sunday as his beloved Bills entered the divisional round of the NFL playoffs with a 31-7 Wild-Card victory over the Denver Broncos.

And the 76-year-old toasted the Bills’ survival by sharing a photo of himself proudly pointing to the final score on his television screen.

However, the celebratory photo quickly caught the attention of NFL fans who focused on one particular detail.

While Blitzer has waited a long time to watch his Bills lift the Lombardi Trophy, it seems even longer since he bought a new television.

According to his own photo, the reporter owns a very old-fashioned home entertainment system, with a plasma television, DVD, VHS and CD players and at least four different remote controls.

Social media users were quick to praise Blitzer for his “veteran” lineup, as many urged him to upgrade his lineup to more modern standards.

‘I like the two VCRs. Can rewind one while watching the other. Veterans Movement,” one fan posted on X, formerly known as Twitter.

‘Bro is stuck in the 80s with his furniture and TV. I thought @CNN paid better. Viewership must be way back,” another added.

“Like most grandparents, a 20 year old TV with 20 year old peripherals,” said a third, suggesting Blitzer wouldn’t be the only member of his generation with a similar setup.

‘Plasma screen from 15 years ago, a DVD player from the same age and a cool sound system controller. Average boomer setup. My in-laws have an identically dated facility,” another echoed.

Others tried to date the technology, as one wrote: “It looks like a lot of 90s tech. I mean, is that a tube TV??”

He still has a VHS, that’s wild,” one stunned fan said simply.

Meanwhile, others encouraged Blitzer to head to the nearest electronics store.

“I’m happy for you and your bills, Wolf. But please turn off the VHS player and upgrade your TV,” someone commented on Blitzer’s post.

“Someone should definitely get him a gift card for @BestBuy,” another shared.

‘The Situation Room’ anchor has long been a staunch supporter of the bills.

Born in Augsburg, Germany, Blitzer grew up in Buffalo and graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University at Buffalo before earning his master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University.
