CNN’s Chris Wallace claims Donald Trump’s performance in debate with Kamala Harris ‘just as devastating’ as Joe Biden’s June disaster

CNN’s Chris Wallace called tonight’s debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris “as devastating for Trump” as the June disaster was for Joe Biden.

Wallace, who left Fox News for CNN in 2021, immediately criticized Trump’s performance compared to Biden’s in June.

‘I never thought I would witness a debate as devastating as this one. [the June debate] where Joe Biden essentially blew his re-election campaign. I think tonight was just as devastating.

Wallace then claimed that Harris had “kept a clean slate” on substance and style, criticizing Trump on every point raised.

“She stressed that she is the candidate for change, that we must end a decade of division and polarization,” he added.

“My image of the debate is of her being happy, laughing, expressive, shaking her head in dismay at what Trump is saying. Trump is looking angry, and he’s looking angry at the moderators.”

He concluded by saying that “Donald Trump looked old tonight” and claimed that Harris won “just by showing up.”

This follows a chorus of praise for Harris and ridicule for Trump from Wallace’s media colleagues.

Liberal CNN pundit Van Jones praised Kamala Harris’ debate with Donald Trump in Philadelphia on Tuesday, while anti-Trump Republican Chris Christie also praised the vice president.

Trump and Harris exchanged fierce criticism during the ABC News-hosted contest, which drew criticism from viewers after hosts David Muir and Linsey Davis refused to fact-check Harris.

Then the left-wing media did a complete 180-degree turn from its response to the disastrous debate between Joe Biden and Trump in Georgia in June, which led to the president dropping out of the race.

Jones, who called Biden’s June performance “painful” and a failure, couldn’t hide his excitement about Harris’ comments toward Trump.

“She caught him off guard, she caught him off guard,” Jones said after his liberal colleagues, including David Axelrod, praised Harris.

He then explained that Harris was fulfilling the fictional role of “wish fulfillment” in her dealings with Trump.

“People wanted someone to put this bully in his place,” Jones said of the former president.

“She went over there and put him in his place. She lured him in and then she beat him up,” he said, before laughing and repeating the statement.

“Not only did she pass the Commander-in-Chief test, he failed it. Do you want this guy to deal with a dictator? You could see the blows coming, he just couldn’t get out.”

Jones ended his argument by claiming that Harris was speaking “for the people” when she spoke about her “middle-class background,” while Trump was speaking “for himself.”

Chris Christie, the former two-term governor of New Jersey who twice ran unsuccessfully against Trump for the Republican Party nomination but ultimately turned against the former president, also praised Harris and slammed Trump.

“She was extremely well prepared, she set traps and he chased all the rabbits through every hole instead of talking about the things he should have been talking about,” Christie said on ABC News.

“This is the difference between someone who is prepared and someone who is not prepared,” he added, saying Trump “is going to lose the election.”

Christie then criticized Trump’s campaign for poorly preparing him for the debate.

“Whoever did the debate prep for Donald Trump should be fired. He was not good at all tonight.”

He said Harris “belonged,” while Trump talked about “people eating pets” and his rallies, but didn’t say enough about the economy.

“I think we’re going to see people look at Kamala Harris as a potential president. Donald Trump is going to have to get to work.”

I think there’s a desire – in fiction there’s wish fulfillment.

While pro-Trump conservatives like CNN’s Scott Jennings complained about the bias of ABC News moderators, he conceded it probably didn’t help Trump.

“It’s hard to complain about the referees when you can’t make a jump shot,” Jennings noted.
