CNN and MSNBC are slammed for muting Trump’s mic to chime in with fact checkers – as Jake Tapper speaks over the former president to condemn his ‘anti-immigrant rhetoric’

CNN and MSNBC strengthened their decision not to air Donald Trump’s key victory speeches in full, again abandoning his New Hampshire rally to offer viewers fact-checks.

As Trump bragged Tuesday night that he had won the Granite State for the third time in a row, MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow interjected with a laugh: “So here we go, this is part of the issue here.”

She then corrected Trump’s false claim that he won the state in the 2020 general election, and only in the Republican Party primaries, at the same time that CNN’s Jake Tapper followed suit.

Interrupting Trump, Tapper said, “Here he is now, under my voice, you can hear him repeating his anti-immigrant rhetoric.”

It comes after the primetime broadcasts faced backlash a week ago after earlier cutting Trump’s Iowa caucus speech to pause their own analysis.

Former President Donald Trump cruised to victory in New Hampshire on Tuesday evening, but his victory speech was not fully supported by two of the major left-wing broadcasters.

The decision by major liberal-leaning networks to interrupt Trump’s speech was met with anger by conservatives online, with many feeling it was a blatant demonstration of their distaste for the former president.

With much of the recent political speculation surrounding who Trump will choose as his running mate, Tapper touched on this in his analysis of Trump’s victory lap.

He noted that Vivek Ramaswamy, a former candidate whose name was often mentioned as a Trump VP pick, served as “somewhat of a hype man” for Trump on stage.

“We haven’t seen anything like this since Bundini Brown,” he joked, referring to Muhammad Ali’s legendary boxing coach.

As Trump delivered a blistering speech — mocking Nikki Haley’s “unsold dress” — CNN muted its microphone as Tapper interjected: “I’ve heard at least two or three things that need to be fact-checked.”

Introducing CNN fact-checker Daniel Dale, he said: ‘It’s clear that Donald Trump didn’t win in 2020, he lost that election and that’s being judged time and time again, even though for the crowd he’s speaking to they believe it, too even if it is a lie. .’

At MSNBC, the network reneged on its previous promises not to broadcast Trump’s speeches live.

“So this is a decision that we will continually come back to and review,” Maddow said just before Trump’s speech began.

“We’ll go into those comments to see how he uses this moment, at least initially, we’ll see how it goes. Again, this is a decision that we view as a live, open-ended decision.”

At the end of his speech, Maddow also checked the former president’s false claims that he won the 2020 election, in what she called an “unusual victory speech.”

“Initially, he said at the beginning of his remarks that he had won New Hampshire not only in previous primaries, but also in previous general elections. He lost in both 2016 and 2020,” she said.

On Tuesday night, President Biden also stormed to victory in New Hampshire, following a successful write-in campaign when the White House decided South Carolina should start the primary because it is more diverse.

Because New Hampshire refused to move its primaries, the DNC stripped its delegates.

Although Biden won by a large margin, his challenger Dean Phillips performed better, receiving 21 percent of the vote.

And while Haley vowed to continue her campaign, Biden counted his and Trump’s victories as clear evidence that they are headed for a rematch of the 2020 election.

“It is now clear that Donald Trump will be the Republican nominee,” Biden said.

‘And my message to the country is that the stakes could not be higher. Our democracy. Our personal freedoms – from the right to choose to the right to vote… are all at stake.”

Biden wasn’t alone in feeling that the remainder of the Republican primaries could be a coronation for Trump, as he was joined on stage by former rivals Ramaswamy and Sen. Tim Scott after they too dropped out and dismissed him weeks ago supported.

“If you win Iowa and you win New Hampshire… no one has ever lost,” Trump noted in his speech.

“That’s never happened before, so we won’t be the first I can tell you. We’re way above everyone else.’

Scott declared that “this election is over,” adding, “It is time for the Republican Party to unite around our candidate and the next President of the United States, Donald Trump.

“Let’s get that party started tonight.”

With each victory, Trump gains more support and a growing sense of inevitability, as stated by Republican donor Dan Eberhart, who was a major donor to Ron DeSantis until he quit on Sunday.

Trump has united the Republican Party and is better than Biden on almost every issue,” he told DailyMail.com after announcing his support for Trump. “What other problem is there?”

Republican Rep. Brandon Williams of New York also endorsed Trump after New Hampshire’s results were announced.

“President Trump will be the Republican nominee for president,” he said.
