CM Punk ‘will feature at WWE’s Elimination Chamber next month’… with the event marking the first time in more than a decade the former world champion has wrestled in Australia

  • The 45-year-old has yet to return to the ring on television since rejoining WWE

CM Punk will be appearing at the Elimination Chamber event next month from Perth, Australia.

A report from Fox sports revealed that the 45-year-old will wrestle his first match down under in over a decade in the final premium live event before WrestleMania 40.

Meanwhile, long-reigning WWE Undisputed Universal Champion Roman Reigns will reportedly not be at Optus Stadium.

Punk’s last matches in Australia took place in September 2012, prior to his first departure from the company, when he defeated Daniel Bryan in consecutive house shows to defend his WWE title.

After leaving WWE in 2014, Punk embarked on a brief foray into mixed martial arts, signing with the UFC and competing twice in the Octagon between 2016 and 2018.

The star then made a surprise return to the squared circle after more than seven years, joining All Elite Wrestling in 2021.

Despite receiving a raucous reception from fans upon his return, the often polarizing Punk became embroiled in several backstage incidents, including one after his final AEW match at Wembley in August that led to his departure.

At Survivor Series in November, Punk made a surprise return to WWE, later expressing reservations he had before reuniting with the company nearly a decade after his acrimonious departure.

Punk hasn’t had a televised match since his return, but he did enjoy his first in-ring action last month when he battled Dominik Mysterio in a pair of house shows over the holidays.
