Clunes death: Cruel twist after Rachael Dixon died while on a ‘magic mushroom trip’ at a health clinic run by a new age wellness guru

The owner of a new age health clinic where a mother died during a suspected mushroom trip remains the target of brutal abuse.

Rachael Dixon, 53, became seriously ill and later died of a suspected heart attack after drinking a mushroom tonic at Soul Barn in Clunes, near Ballarat, western Victoria, about noon on April 13.

Soul Barn Wellbeing Center founder Michelle Mullins released a statement saying a private event was being held at the clinic at the time, with the venue being rented out to outside companies and facilitators.

Nearly a month after the tragedy, Ms Mullins continues to be mercilessly abused and harassed, both by online trolls and in person.

“The level of harassment was overwhelming,” she told Nine Entertainment.

“I appreciate that there are answers that people are looking for. To some extent we all want answers, but everyone wants them from me and I just don’t have them.

“I wasn’t there, I was at home in bed.”

Ms Mullins said she was even stalked despite attempts to distance herself.

“I’ve been very careful not to say anything to anyone because they’re devastated,” the business owner said.

“But there are also so many things happening to me, my son and my family that are scary, and it’s very hard to understand how I’m being targeted now.”

It comes just weeks after Ms Mullins was targeted by trolls after posting a statement to refute speculation that she was running the clinic at the time.

“I guess that’s the risk of renting out your location, your reputation,” one person wrote.

“It’s still your responsibility to hire your professionals if it’s your business.”

In her statement, Ms Mullins said none of her regular therapists, staff or supervisors were present when disaster struck under the roof of her shop.

“There are no words to express the deep sadness and shock we feel here at Soul following the tragic incident that occurred on April 13,” the statement said.

“The event that took place on April 13 was a private event and those facilitating the event do not work for or represent Soul Barn in any way.”

Ms Dixon became seriously ill and later died of a suspected heart attack after allegedly drinking a mushroom tonic at Soul Barn.

Two other people were hospitalized but have since been released.

It remains publicly unknown which of Soul Barn’s clients actually organized the retreat.

Daily Mail Australia is not suggesting Ms Mullins had anything to do with the tragic death linked to Soul Barn.

It is understood police are concerned that Ms Dixon may have consumed magic mushrooms before her death.

Her son, Matthew Mountain, posted a heartfelt tribute to his mother on social media.

“To the most loving, caring person I have ever known, I cannot thank you enough for everything you have ever done for me and all the support you have given me. Words can’t even describe how much I will miss you, I wish I could give you one last hug,” he wrote.

“I love you infinite mommy.”
