The NBA has fined LA Clippers coach Ty Lue $35,000 for accusing referees of “cheating” after a comeback win over the Golden State Warriors on Wednesday.
Lue was fined for “publicly criticizing the referee and questioning the integrity of the game officials,” the NBA said in a news release Friday. This came after Lue was filmed shouted his sentiments after the 130-125 win.
His frustrations came after he was ejected with two technical fouls early in the fourth quarter when the Clippers trailed the Warriors. Lue was thrown after a brief scuffle between both sides.
‘Where are the referees now? Cheating,” Lue shouted at his players and staff outside the locker room. “That’s all they do.”
Lue also expressed his displeasure with referee James Williams, who was working the match.

‘Where James? The referee. I want to kick him in the mouth,” Lue said in the video.
After his eviction, the Clippers overcame a significant deficit to snap Golden State’s five-game win streak without star forward Kawhi Leonard. They backed James Harden’s 26 points and Paul George’s 24 points.
Ivica Zubac and Amir Coffey also reached double figures with 13 and 14 points respectively. Meanwhile, Russell Westbrook and Norman Powell scored 15 and 21 off the bench.
The Clippers have been red hot since acquiring Harden in November. Despite losing its first five games upon his arrival, the team found its stride and is 28-7 as of early December.
The Clippers are third in the Western Conference and currently have a 36-17 record at midseason as they reemerge as title contenders.
