Multiple fights between teens have broken out at a San Francisco mall in recent months, many of which have occurred during after-school hours on Wednesdays, which are early release days.

Security guards at San Francisco’s Stonestown Galleria mall have been so overwhelmed that now the San Francisco Police Department is involved.

Between March 15 and 17 alone, there were three incidents in which groups of teenagers entered the mall and assaulted each other, the SFPD said.

The most recent attacks, which occurred last week inside the Target store and in the food court, were captured on cellphone video that was posted on social media.

Supervisor Myrna Melgar, who represents District 7 where the mall is located, said the mall has increased security patrols in the area. Melgar also said that she would speak with the San Francisco Unified School District, as the fights have been occurring when the school has early release days.

One of the videos of the fights posted on social media shows a group attacking a teenager, punching and kicking him as other teenagers huddle together and continue to record the fight on their cell phones.

A police spokesman said KRON4: ‘On Friday, several minors were sprayed with pepper spray by other minors.

‘Officers discovered a minor suffering from injuries as a result of the physical altercation. Medics were summoned and transported the victim to the hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The police department also said that they are doing everything they can to address the problem.

“We are working closely with mall officials to assess security measures in place to address criminal activity, especially violent acts and physical altercations,” SFPD said in a statement.

‘The mall has increased security personnel and we have increased our patrols in and around the mall in hopes of preventing violent incidents from occurring.

Fights at the mall have resulted in physical injuries, according to Melgar, who advised parents to “be vigilant” and “watch your kids’ social media and follow what they’re doing.”

In a statement provided to KRON4, Stonestown Mall wrote:

We are outraged by the unacceptable behavior that occurred at Stonestown Galleria, which was a clear violation of our Code of Conduct. We are working closely with school, city, and law enforcement leaders to address this issue.

“The safety and well-being of our guests and tenants is our top priority and we have zero tolerance for this disruptive behavior. At this time, we are directing all inquiries to the San Francisco Police Department.
