Cleveland Browns bolster defensive line by “agreeing to deals with tackles Trysten Hill and Maurice Hurst” after recently signing Ogbonnia Okoronkwo and Dalvin Tomlinson

Browns general manager Andrew Berry added two more defensive pieces, agreeing to contract terms with free agent tackles Trysten Hill and Maurice Hurst.

Both players are receiving one-year contracts, said the person who spoke on condition of anonymity because the Browns have not announced the deals.

The Browns believe they have improved their defensive line in free agency by adding running back Ogbonnia Okoronkwo, tackle Dalvin Tomlinson, Hurst and Hill.

Cleveland’s defense was inconsistent last season, playing a big role in the team’s 7-10 finish.

Maurice Hurst also agreed to terms with the Browns after last playing for the 49ers in 2021.

Hill has been slowed by injuries since being drafted by Dallas in 2019. The 6-foot-3, 308-pound player spent last season with the Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals.

In 13 games last season he had 12 total tackles and one sack.

The Browns are hoping he can give them rotation depth up front.

Hurst, who played college baseball at Michigan, has also been injury-prone in recent seasons.

The 6-foot-2, 290-pound player has played in just two games combined in the past two years due to leg injuries and a torn biceps.

He last played for the 49ers in 2021 and did not play during the 2022 season.

The Browns also made the signing of safety Juan Thornhill official. He will get a three-year, $21 million contract after leaving the Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs.
