Clemson football coach Dabo Swinney was the victim of a voting accident that temporarily prevented him from voting in the presidential election.
Swinney, who is preparing for this weekend’s game against Virginia Tech, went to the polls on Tuesday to have his say on the battle between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris.
But after the football coach arrived, he was told he could not vote. Swinney wondered if this was a result of last week’s loss to Louisville.
“I did my best this morning and voted (and) they told me I couldn’t vote. That was quite an experience,” he said.
‘(I thought) Dang. They voted me out of the state. We lost a game. We’re 6-2 and 5-1 (in the conference). They sent me away,” he joked.

But Swinney soon discovered that there was in fact a clerical error involving his son.
“It turns out that Will – my oldest – voted last week, and somehow they messed it up, didn’t verify his birthday or anything, and counted me as a vote. So what was supposed to take ten minutes took an hour,” the coach explained Fox.
‘He said I had already voted. And I thought, “No, I can assure you I didn’t vote”
Swinney claimed he had to fill out a paper ballot prior to Friday’s hearing to resolve the issue.
‘It was quite an experience this morning. But apparently they’re going to fix it on Friday, and on Friday Will and I – our two votes – will count,” he explained.
‘I don’t know if it matters on Friday. Trying to do my best and be a good citizen and vote, and sometimes doing your best isn’t good enough.”
