A cleaning expert has revealed the ultimate secret to a sparkling clean sink.

Carolina McCauley, from Perth, always uses baby oil to polish her stainless steel sink after sanitizing the area with soap.

Baby oil effectively removes streaks from shiny surfaces such as porcelain and stainless steel.

Just put a few drops on a microfiber cloth and rub over your clean sink in a circular motion.

You can also use baby oil to remove grease from sinks and cookware, water stains on showers and faucets, and stubborn stains on toilet bowls.

The mother always uses baby oil to polish her sink after cleaning the area.

“If you want to make your sink shine, use a little baby oil,” she advised.

She pours a small amount onto a polishing cloth and covers all surfaces.

Be careful not to overdo it as you can always add more later, but too much at the beginning can lead to greasiness.

“I keep polishing until it starts to sparkle,” she said.

How to deep clean your sink with natural products

1. Sprinkle baking soda on the sink and clean with a scouring pad or sponge

2. Pour white vinegar over baking soda to disinfect

3. Wash the sink with water and rub with a lemon to deodorize

4. Polish the sink with baby oil or mineral oil to keep it shiny for weeks

Baby oil really is an extremely versatile substance.

While many people use baking soda and vinegar as a natural way to clean their kitchen, another savvy mom shared the unusual trick that transformed her sink and kettle.

Amelita posted photos to an Australian Facebook group and said she used regular baby oil to clean the household appliances after seeing a recommendation online.

“To whoever it was that suggested using baby oil to make the sink shine again and remove the streaks…you are AMAZING,” she wrote.

‘I should have taken pictures sooner, but here are the results… I even tried it on the kettle!’
