Cleaner: These are the five things you absolutely must do when you leave a rental if you want to get your bond back

  • Kacie said to watch your window rails, oven and ceiling fans
  • If you clean them before you leave a rental, you will get your full security deposit back

A cleaner shared the five things property managers have “hawk eyes” for when looking around a rental property to return a bond — and why you should pay extra attention to your window marks to get your money back.

Kacie, who runs The big clean co in Melbourne, said it’s a “universal truth” that property managers are “obsessed with window marks.”

They’ll also look out for your extractor fans and ceiling fans, the outside edges of your shower, the oven, and greasy knobs before your bonding comes off.

“Here are the five things that property managers have hawk eyes on that you can complete before moving day,” Kacie said in a clamp.

The first thing she highlighted is exhaust fans and ceiling fans, which are easy to clean with a dry or slightly damp microfiber cloth.

Ditto your window tracks, which can be easily cleaned with a toothbrush to get into the corners.

“Don’t forget the outside edges of your shower and oven — use a toothbrush to get into the corners,” Kacie said.

“Don’t forget those greasy lumps!” she added.

Thousands who saw the clip quickly thanked the cleaner for sharing her advice, while others said they’d never moved into a rental property in such good condition:

“Universal truth: I’ve never moved into a clean rental property, but the standard I’m expected to leave it in is god level,” one person wrote.

‘Three rental properties in four years. Cleaned your way. I have my security deposit back. Ended up cleaning my own new house that was left messy. I had to have the front loader seal replaced,” added another.

A third posted: “So true. I’m obsessed’.

Kacie previously shared why you shouldn’t be wasting hundreds of dollars on expensive cleaning products – and instead just buy For All Australia, which will clean most areas of your home.

Kacie said For All Australia ($23.95; 1L) is her go-to buy for removing dirt and grime from hoods, backsplashes, oven doors, surfaces, hobs and bathrooms.

She said you’ve been “sold a lie” if you think you need to buy different surface sprays and designated kitchen and bathroom cleaners.

“I’m a professional cleaner and I’m here to show you that you don’t need a different cleaning product for every surface of your home,” Kacie said in a viral TikTok video.

“You only need one made in Australia with biodegradable ingredients and a recycled plastic bottle.”

Kacie added, “It’s time to simplify your routine.”

To use For All, the cleaner recommends pouring it directly onto the surface or diluting it with water in a spray bottle.

“If you’re cleaning something really dirty, like a built-up shower, a greasy stovetop, or an oven, pour it directly onto whatever you’re scrubbing with — whether it’s a scrub brush, cloth, or scouring pad, because that’s how you get that concentrated cleaning power,” Kacie said.

On the other hand, if you are just doing a daily cleaning, put it in a spray bottle at the ratio of one tablespoon to one liter of water:

“You get more out of it that way,” she said.
