Classmates of an 18-year-old girl, along with three friends, who died in a car crash while celebrating their exam results, say an emotional farewell as the teen is buried in Ireland

The classmates of a girl who along with three friends died in a tragic car accident while celebrating their exam results last week are saying their final goodbyes today as the teenager is buried in Ireland.

Nicole Murphy, 18, died on Friday along with Zoey Coffey and Grace McSweeney, both also 18, and Mrs McSweeney’s 24-year-old brother, Luke, when their car overturned and crashed into a wall in Clonmel, County Tipperary.

Mass for Mrs Murphy takes place at St John the Baptist Church in Kilcash, near Clonmel. Hundreds of people gathered outside the church as the hearse carrying the teen’s white coffin arrived just after noon.

Classmates from Loreto Secondary School gathered under umbrellas and formed a guard of honor as the coffin was brought into the church.

Among those in attendance are Irish President Michael D. Higgins and Education Minister Norma Foley.

Luke McSweeney was driving the teens to a bus on Friday when the car overturned and crashed into a wall in Clonmel.

The young people were on their way to celebrate the results of their Leaving Cert exam, which they received earlier on Friday.

Tributes poured in for the four youths, and around 2,000 people attended a vigil in Clonmel on Sunday evening, during which people lit candles and posted pictures on steps in a local square.

Photos taken Monday showed hundreds of flowers placed along a wall outside Loreto Secondary School, near the scene of the accident.

A joint funeral for Mr and Mrs McSweeney will take place in Clonmel on Friday, while Mrs Coffey will be buried in the town on Saturday.

Thursday’s funeral comes after three more lives were lost in a new traffic tragedy in Co Tipperary, days after the crash in Clonmel, sending shockwaves through the local community still reeling from Friday’s incident.

A young boy and his grandparents were killed in a single-vehicle collision in Cashel on Tuesday night. Thomas O’Reilly, 45, his wife Bridget O’Reilly, 46, and their three-year-old grandson Tom O’Reilly were killed.

The child’s parents, both 22 years old, were injured in the crash. The man is being treated for serious injuries, while Gardai said the woman suffered minor injuries.

The single-vehicle collision occurred shortly before 9 p.m. Tuesday when a car hit a wall in the Windmill-Knockbulloge area of ​​Cashel.

A vigil will be held for the victims on Thursday afternoon in the Sint-Jan-de-Doperkerk in Cashel.

During a week of tragedy on Ireland’s roads, two male motorcyclists in their 40s were also killed in separate road accidents in Dublin and in Belmont, County Offaly, on Sunday night.
