Classic FM has announced the return of Pet Classics, a soothing music program to help keep anxious pets calm and relaxed during this fireworks season.
It will be hosted for a second year by GMBs and Classic FM’s weekend host Charlotte Hawkins, 47, who will be joined in the studio by her dog Frank.
The show will also honor Bill Turnbull, who hosted the show for three years, with a special tribute following his death from prostate cancer earlier this year at age 66.

The news comes as an RSPCA survey shows that playing relaxing music to animals is the most popular way people calm their pets when fireworks are heard.
For the fifth consecutive year, Classic FM has partnered with the RSPCA to create the programs and manage the music.
Pet Classics will also include initiations for listeners’ pets and advice from the RSPCA for owners seeking to reassure their pets.
Recently, a survey by the RSPCA found that two-thirds of pet owners reported that their pet was upset during fireworks season and that playing relaxing music was the most common way to help their animal relax or prepare.

Many kennels and rehoming centers use the power of classical music to reduce stress levels in their animals.
Charlotte said, “I’m so happy to be hosting Pet Classics again this year because it’s such a special show.
“I’ve seen firsthand from my dog how hard it can be for pets during the fireworks, but it’s amazing how much of a difference relaxing music can make to calming and calming animals.”
“We had such an overwhelming response to Pet Classics last year, it was so good to see the impact the music was making on pets across the country.

“We’ve had pictures of dogs, cats, birds, horses and even a laid-back iguana… so I’m looking forward to seeing people join in again this year and send me lots of pictures of their peaceful pets!”
RSPCA Superintendent Clare Dew said: ‘We know that fireworks are a source of stress for animals every year, and owners can really struggle to know what to do.
“It’s one of the reasons we’re thrilled to partner with Classic FM for their Pet Classics programs, as studies show that calming music can be beneficial for some animals during this time.”
“I suggest keeping your house as quiet as possible, closing the curtains, creating a safe haven with blankets and a favorite pet toy, turning on the radio and having a relaxed evening.”
Pet Classic airs on Friday November 4 and November 5 from 5 – 9 p.m.
