Clara Amfo is latest star to leave BBC Radio show as she steps down after two year stint and her replacement is named
Clara Amfo has quit her presenting job on BBC Radio 1's Future Sounds.
The DJ, who competed on Strictly Come Dancing with Aljaz Skorjanec in 2020, issued a statement on Tuesday and shared a post of her in the recording studio on Instagram.
She wrote: 'It is with immense gratitude and reflection that I have made the choice to part ways with Future Sounds on @bbcradio1.
'I'm saving the long paragraphs (because you know I love them!) for my last show, but for now I'll say that I'm so proud of the work I've been able to do on every type show over the years since the 8th floor, up and down Britain and random pop star houses!

'I am charmed by every production team I have had the opportunity to work with for every broadcast.
“I am so honored by the amazing artists and their hardworking teams who chose the show to share their work and intimate thoughts and continually provide one of the most valuable things we all need to keep going in this wild world” .
She concluded: 'I'm energized and excited for my next chapter as part of the network and beyond! See you at 6pm Clara x'.
Clara was inundated with comments from her fans and famous friends, with fellow Radio 1 star Greg James writing: 'Love yeeeeeeeeeew ' and Radio 2 presenter Zoe Ball gushed: 'oh clara new adventures ahead. enormous love for you goddess x'
Strictly Angela Scanlon wrote: 'Yes darlings!! Up and away xx' while Loose Women's Judi Love added: 'The world is ready for your next step!!'
Stacey Dooley commented on a series of clapping hands emjois, while Claudia Winkleman posted a series of hearts.
Jack Saunders – who presents the channel's Future Artists and The Official Chart shows – will take on the role of Clara from April 15.

He took to his own Instagram to announce the news, writing a serious caption saying he was inspired by Radio 1 DJs as a child and dreamed of presenting Future Sounds.
He also wrote a serious caption, in which he wrote that as a child he was inspired by DJs from Radio 1 and had long harbored the dream of presenting Future Sounds.
Jac wrote: 'The show (and the previous entities) is the main trendsetting music show. It has influenced the music taste of generations and I am so BLOODY EXCITED THAT YESTERDAY I WAS IN TEARS IN A RESTAURANT WHEN I DISCOVERED that I will be the new presenter of Future Sounds from April 15, 2024.
“You and me and the best new music in the world, I couldn't think of a more perfect way to spend my weeknights. We did it'.
Clara previously explained how she had wanted to be on the radio since she was a child, telling Metro in 2021: 'I have very clear memories of being alone in my room as a child and listening to the radio for hours, pretended to be the presenter.
“I would repeat or remix their words, thinking my ten-year-old self could do it better.”
She started as a general office assistant at Kiss FM before becoming a presenter there and joined BBC Radio 1Xtra in September 2013 as the weekend breakfast show presenter.
She joined Radio 1 in 2015, taking over from Fearne Cotton to host the Live Lounge and during that time interviewed Jay-Z, Dua Lipa, Kendrick Lamar and Ariana Grande.
Clara then took part in Annie Mac's Future Sounds show on Radio 1 from July 2021 until her departure this week.
Outside of radio, she has appeared on Strictly, Celebrity Gogglebox, The Weakest Link and RuPaul's Drag Race: UK vs the World.
