An elderly woman is fighting for her life after she was hit by a truck on one of Sydney’s busiest roads, causing traffic chaos.
Emergency services rushed to the scene on the City West Link in Lilyfield, near Norton Street in Sydney’s inner west, shortly before 11am on Monday after reports a pedestrian had been hit by a truck.
The pedestrian, a 66-year-old woman, was treated at the scene for serious injuries and taken to the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a critical condition.
The male truck driver was not injured, but was taken to hospital to undergo mandatory tests.
Emergency services remain on site.

Footage from the scene shows emergency workers surrounding the seriously injured woman, lying on a stretcher and protected by a white sheet as she was placed in the ambulance.
Officers from Strike Force Raptor were among the police units called to the scene.
“A crime scene has been established and an investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident has begun,” a NSW Police statement said.
Lanes in the city on the City West Link remain closed and traffic is being diverted to Norton St, Lilyfield and Balmain Roads.
Motorists are urged to use Parramatta or Victoria Road as an alternative route.
‘There are local diversions. Follow the directions of emergency services on scene,” reads a warning from Live Traffic Sydney.
The Traffic and Highway Patrol Unit urged motorists not to travel through the area and shared a photo of several emergency vehicles at the scene.

“Long delays expected,” police added.
Westbound lanes on the City West Link remain open to traffic.
Anyone who has dashcam footage or witnessed the crash is urged to call Crime Stoppers.
It was one of several traffic incidents in Sydney on Monday morning, including a two-truck crash on the M4 at Eastern Creek, a multi-vehicle collision on Mamre Road in nearby Orchard Hills and a diesel spill on the M5 near Hammondville.
