New ‘man from the Pru’: Anil Wadhwani

A new one makes its debut today.

Anil Wadhwani comes over from rival Manulife Asia and worked in Hong Kong for five years.

Founded in London 175 years ago, Prudential is now fully focused on high-growth Asian and African markets after spun off its UK operations into M&G.

All senior management has moved to Hong Kong, but the Pru is listed and headquartered in London.

Wadhwani will present the annual figures next month. These are expected to show the full impact of China’s prolonged lockdown.

The Pru is valued at £34 billion. The stock has largely tread water since the spin-offs began four years ago.
