The chairman of the city’s watchdog is under fire for revealing the identity of a whistleblower.

The employee was dismissed for alleged misconduct and lost an employment tribunal case – but has appealed – accusing the FCA of “incompetence”.

The FCA is investigating whether allegations of misconduct should be formally investigated internally.

The regulator said: ‘This is an exceptional case. The senior independent director will assess how this was handled.’
