Cities: Skylines 2 is scheduled to launch on PC on October 24, but just over a week before release, developer Paradox Interactive has come forward to say that the state of the game may not be quite up to par.
In a blog post, Paradox Interactive shared an update on both modding and performance Cities: Skylines 2which sheds some light on what players should prepare for once they’re finally able to jump in. In the post, Paradox states: “We have noted concerns about Cities: Skylines II performance, especially after our previous statement of increased minimum and recommended specifications. Because we have always believed in transparency, we would like to shed some more light on the current state of construction.
“Cities: Skylines II is a next generation title and obviously requires certain hardware requirements. That said, while our team has worked tirelessly to deliver the best experience possible, we haven’t achieved the benchmark we aimed for.
In light of this, we are still thinking about the long term of the project: releasing now is the best way forward. We are proud of the unique gameplay and features in Cities: Skylines II, and we truly believe it provides a great experience that you will enjoy.”
No specific details have been shared about the performance issues we might face, so it’s hard to say where exactly players can expect to see these holes and whether they will impact the entire experience, but with just a week to go until release more information about these issues will undoubtedly be shared by players.
Reinforcing this statement and reassuring players that these issues will be worked on, Paradox continued: “We will continue to improve the game over the coming months, but we also want to manage performance expectations for the upcoming release to hold. Our ambition is for Cities: Skylines II for as many players as possible to enjoy, and we are doing everything we can to ensure it reaches its full potential.”
