We’ve enjoyed playing with the AI-powered Circle to Search feature since it came out (first on the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Google Pixel 8 phones) and it looks like it could bring some new capabilities in the near future. can get.
According to known tipster @AssembleDebug (through PiunikaWeb), hidden fragments lurking in the Circle to Search code appear to boost the feature with options to capture parts of the screen and share them with other people.
Parts of the screen can be selected with a tap, a circle, or a scribble with Circle to Search, and you can then adjust the selected area. As it stands now, you can then perform a search based on the highlighted images or text.
What’s apparently coming soon is new Copy image And Share image buttons that appear when something is selected. It’s basically a quick and easy way to capture part of the screen, in addition to the existing screenshot options on Android.

So far, there’s no indication when this will roll out to smartphones – and of course, it’s always possible that Google’s software engineers might change their minds and decide not to add the extra Circle to Search capabilities after all.
However, given that the source of this leak has managed to get the feature working – complete with new blue handles on the sides of selections, instead of white brackets – it may not be long before this feature is introduced ( if it does indeed).
Circle to Search and several other AI features are slowly rolling out to older Pixel and Galaxy phones, after debuting in the latest flagships. It’s not clear exactly what kind of hardware performance is needed for the tool to run smoothly.
We’re likely to get even more artificial intelligence tricks over the next twelve months with the Google Pixel 9 and the Samsung Galaxy S25 – with more AI likely running locally on the devices themselves as they become more powerful.
