The original supermodels are back on the cover of Fashion with the line ‘the best of all time’.

1990s greats Cindy Crawford, 57, Linda Evangelista, 58, Naomi Campbell, 53, and Christy Turlington, 54, posed side-by-side for the September issue.

The cover girls all wore dark colors as they posed for photographer Rafael Pavarotti.

The ladies plug in the new Apple TV+ docuseries The Supermodels, which premieres September 20.

The four-part show focuses on the top models of the nineties.

The series is directed by Academy Award winner Roger Ross Williams and Larissa Bills, and executive produced by Brian Grazer and Ron Howard’s Imagine Documentaries.

The teaser for the new documentary was shared in July.

All four women were seen.

They wore casual clothes as she sat in a white director’s chair, but they said nothing.

The logline for the series reads: ‘The Supermodels travels back to the 1980s, when four women from different corners of the world united in New York.

Forces in themselves, the gravitas they achieved by coming together transcends the industry itself.

Their prestige was so extraordinary that it enabled the four to replace the brands they showcased, making the names Naomi, Cindy, Linda and Christy as prominent as the designers they formed.

Today, the four supermodels remain at the forefront of culture through activism, philanthropy and business prowess.

“As the fashion industry continues to redefine itself – and women’s role in it – this is the ultimate story of power and how four women came together to claim it and pave the way for those who would follow.”

In 2020, the ladies opened up about the show.

Speaking about her new venture, Naomi told MailOnline: ‘My sisters Christy, Linda, Cindy and I are extremely excited to share our story with the world and there couldn’t be better partners than Brian Grazer and Ron Howard which is a dream come true because we knew they would respect and honor our story.

“We hope our journey, as seen in the docuseries, will encourage, motivate and inspire young people around the world. We look forward to this amazing adventure ahead with director Barbara Kopple.”

Cindy wrote on her Instagram page, “I am excited to reunite with my friends to both celebrate and explore how supermodels have transcended the traditional perceptions and boundaries of modeling in the fashion industry through time.

“With the support of Imagine Documentaries and Academy Award-winning director Barbara Kopple, we intend to explore the dynamic personalities and shifts in media and culture that helped shape and define this iconic era.”

The Supermodels take fans back to the 1980s, at the start of their modeling careers, documenting how the four women from around the world came together and collectively achieved fame that transcended the entire industry.

The four-part series will also explore the work of today’s ladies, not just in the fashion industry, but also in activism, philanthropy and business, and how the quartet has paved the way for the next generation.

Linda said of the series: ‘To finally get the chance to tell our story in collaboration with the brilliant team at Imagine, and under the direction of Barbara Kopple, is as exciting for us as we hope it is for the viewers.

“I’d like people to see this as a celebration not only of our individual stories, but of the power of friendship, dreams and perseverance.”

While Christy added, “I look forward to looking back at this unprecedented time in fashion with these incredible women I grew up with.”

Originally from South London, Naomi established herself in the top three most recognizable and in-demand models in the late 1980s.

She appeared on the cover of British Elle just before she turned 16, and in 1987 she became the first black cover girl of British Vogue since 1966.

Meanwhile, Cindy is said to have been on about 500 magazine covers and walked for shows including Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, Christian Dior, DKNY and formerly Valentino.

The ladies, along with fellow supermodels Claudia Schiffer, Helen Christensen and Carla Bruni, reunited on the runway in 2017 for the Versace SS18 show during Milan Fashion Week.

The fashion show’s golden girls showed the young men how it’s done and took the show to a stunning climax, after it was opened by Kendall Jenner and model sisters Bella and Gigi Hadid.

The 1990s supermodels walked the runway with designer Donatella Versace to thunderous applause as they paid tribute to her late designer brother Gianni Versace, who was murdered in 1997.

On the 20th anniversary of his passing, it was a fitting tribute to a man each of the women personally worked with during their modeling days.

The women were all dressed in sparkly dresses, proving that their supermodel figures all looked flawless into their late forties – and early fifties, for some at the time.
