Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow showed an improvement in his rehab from a recent appendectomy on Monday, throwing several passes during an impromptu walkthrough session with some of his wide receivers and tight ends.

It was the first time Burrow has done throwing of any kind since his surgery according to offensive coordinator Brian Callahan.

‘He’s feeling better,’ Callahan told ESPN. ‘So I just asked him if he wanted to do it and he said, ‘Yeah.”

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor made it a point to remind reporters that the team is not going to rush Burrow back or set a timetable for his return as of yet.

‘I think what you see is what you get,’ Taylor said. ‘He looks good to me.

‘He’s starting to get better every single day. Again, I don’t want to put a timeline on when he gets out here and starts throwing and stuff, but it’s been encouraging.’

This is not the first time the Bengals have had to deal with Burrow rehabbing from an operation during training camp, as last year Burrow was recovering from torn ACL and MCL he obtained during the previous season.

Though this year’s rehab assignment is much different for Burrow, he as the rest of the Bengals organization may be hoping this is an omen of another similar season to last year which was a great success.

Burrow’s production took a tremendous leap in his second season with the Bengals after being drafted No. 1 overall in the 2020 NFL draft out of LSU.

This combined with help from 2021 No. 5 overall pick wide receiver Jamar Chase helped Cincinnati reach the Super Bowl before falling defeat to the Los Angeles Rams.

Most betting companies currently have the Bengals listed outside the top 10 in terms of odds to reach the Super Bowl this season.
