Chromebooks are getting a big upgrade to take on Windows 11 laptops

Google plans to add Microsoft 365 integration to Chrome OS later in 2023, according to a memo on the community thread. Chrome OS currently technically already has support for Microsoft 365, but this integration makes it easier to install individual apps and open files on Chromebooks.

Users have access to a guide that walks them through installing the Microsoft 365 app and connecting OneDrive accounts to the existing Chrome OS Files app, so you can easily see all your stuff in one place. This works both ways for Chromebook users, meaning that documents in the Files app can be moved to Microsoft’s cloud storage and they don’t have to use PWA apps (Progressive Web Apps – basically just third-party apps that act as intermediary between systems).
