Christy Turlington, 54, doesn’t want “freaky” plastic surgery

Christy Turlington, 54, reveals why she doesn’t want ‘freaky’ plastic surgery and describes her commitment to aging naturally: ‘I love seeing a real face’

Christy Turlington has revealed in a candid new interview why she’s shying away from plastic surgery and determined to age naturally.

The supermodel, 54, said she believes plastic surgery “looks weird” and loves to “see a real face” in a conversation with Mary Claire.

She said, “Women who have stayed away from self-aggrandizement — those are the women I really admire. I like to see a real face. A face of someone who has lived life.

“I would say my beauty icons are people like Jane Birkin. They have the kind of faces I like to see, and we don’t see that many anymore in the world. Jane was aging in her own way. She was just as beautiful at the end of her life as she was at the beginning.

“I will be one of those faces. I’m one of those faces.’

The star said she relies on a “very simple” skincare routine that includes cleanser and vitamin C for daytime hydration and a face balm and mask at night.

Christy also relies on yoga to keep fit, and enjoys walking and running for the ‘brokenness’.

Turlington first started modeling as a teenager, after being discovered by a local photographer while traveling to Miami, Florida, to visit her father.

After turning 18, she moved to New York City to pursue her career full-time and became one of the most successful models of the ’90s.

She has appeared in magazines such as Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, Marie Claire, L’Officiel, Glamour, Cosmopolitan and Allure, to name a few, as well as advertising campaigns for Calvin Klein, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, Marc Jacobs, Prada, Valentino, Versace, Louis Vuitton, Michael Kors and Maybelline.

In addition to modeling, she also launched a series of business ventures, including a skincare line called Sundari, two clothing lines in collaboration with Puma, and a women’s yoga clothing line.

She also dabbled in writing, contributing to Marie Claire, Yoga Journal, Huffington Post, and Teen Vogue over the years.

Turlington has also served as a correspondent for the Today Show and worked as a product tester for Apple in 2015.
