Christopher Reeve’s son Will Reeve, 32, reveals if he plans to follow in his late dad’s acting footsteps

Although Will Reeve bears a striking resemblance to his late father Christopher Reeve, he is not interested in a career as an actor in Hollywood.

Speaking with PEOPLE Will said this week that he “enjoys” working as a correspondent for ABC News and Good Morning America and that he’s just “not good” at acting.

“I love my job as a correspondent at ABC News,” Reeve, 32, said on the red carpet at the New York premiere of the new documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story.

“I think I like the performance,” the North Adams, Massachusetts, resident admitted.

“But I don’t know if I’m good at acting.”

Of course, Superman also came up and new actor David Corenswet will don the red cape for the upcoming Superman film set to premiere in 2025.

“I think they found a great fit in David,” Will said of the studio’s decision to hire the Philadelphia-born actor, whose credits include The Politician (2019-2020) and Twisters (2024), for the iconic role.

The 31-year-old Corenswet is the third actor to play the Man Of Steel on the big screen, after Christopher Reeve, following Brandon Routh and Henry Cavill.

Will makes a brief cameo in the upcoming superhero film, but he and his siblings are prominently featured in the new Super/Man documentary.

The documentary spans Christopher’s early years in New York City as an aspiring actor, alongside his best friend Robin Williams, through his tragic equestrian accident in Culpepper, Virginia in 1995 and its aftermath.

The story then focuses on the paralysis he suffered from his fall from his horse and the impact it had on his life with his wife Dana Reeve, whom he married three years before the accident.

From 1995, Will’s mother became his father’s primary caregiver, until his death in October 2004. In the meantime, she also remained the mother of their three children.

After his accident, he lobbied for spinal cord injury research, including human embryonic stem cell research, and for better insurance coverage for people with disabilities.

His work as an advocate includes directing the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation and co-founding the Reeve-Irvine Research Center.

All of Reeve’s children serve on the board of directors of the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation.

“My mom was probably the most special person that ever walked this earth,” Will told PEOPLE, before adding, “She didn’t have to wake up every day and decide to provide for our family. That’s who she was.”

Tragically, his mother was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 2005, despite the fact that she had never smoked, ten months after her husband passed away.

Ultimately, Dana passed away in March 2006 at the age of 44, leaving Will and his siblings without their parents within 17 months.

“That’s when I realized I was completely alone,” Will said as he recalled his thoughts and emotions during such a dark time.

Super Man: The Christopher Reeve Story opened in select theaters on September 21, with special reruns on September 25, in honor of what would have been Christopher’s 72nd birthday.
