Met Gala 2023: Bling Empire star Christine Chiu opts for 20s vibes for her Met Gala debut in honor of late friend Karl Lagerfeld
Christine Chiu, 40, from Bling Empire got the job and took it seriously. After all, she’s been a haute couture collector for years.
“My first thought is, ‘How do I honor Karl?'” she said in an interview with Vanity purse ahead of her Met Gala debut tonight.
She chose to re-wear one of her vintage Chanel dresses. The red dress exudes flutter vibes and includes a 65lb cape.
The dress has a tulip hem that ends above her knees at the front and at the back at her ankles.
The Dancing With the Stars alumnus has kept the dress in a temperature-controlled closet since she wore it to meet then-Prince Charles in 2019.

The elaborate cape is the same color as the dress and has a faux fur-like texture.
The reality TV star wore an elaborate headpiece with silver beads in her raven black hair.
Her makeup featured dramatic, dark-lined eyes, rosy, sun-kissed cheeks, and berry lips.
She slipped her feet into a pair of red platform heels with crystal embellishments.
Christine comes from her love of couture, and especially Karl Lagerfeld and Chanel of course.
“My mother collected Chanel,” she told the magazine.
But when it came to her own beginnings as a serious collector of serious clothes, she approached it in her own way.

‘I started collecting in my early twenties and was known as the youngest couture collector at the time. I was surrounded with women who were much more well off and I admired them,” she revealed to the outlet.
Christine will donate up to 10 couture pieces from her personal archive to the Costume Institute in exchange for her ticket to tonight’s gala.
“Chanel’s house means so much to me because of the people I met there. One of my couture dresses has been remade four times. My weight and my shape and my size just went all over the charts,” she said.
“And so they kept remaking the dress and remaking the dress, but through the fitting and the process, they were there for me.” It has so much meaning to me because that was the support the house gave me during my darkest times,” she explained.
