Christina Applegate’s ex-husband Johnathon Schaech applauded her performance at the 75th Primetime Emmy Awards on Monday, which was received with a standing ovation amid her battle with multiple sclerosis.
The 54-year-old That Thing You Do alumnus posted a photo of the 52-year-old Emmy winner wearing a red velvet Christian Siriano blazer dress on Monday night with the caption, “We are so proud of you Christina.”
“She danced on opening night on Broadway with a broken foot! Defeat (breast) cancer!’ So does Johnathon – who has 498,000 social media followers tweeted Monday.

Christina – who was diagnosed with MS in 2021 – used a cane on the Peacock Theater stage to walk alongside presenter Anthony Anderson, and visibly cried as the audience stood and cheered for her.

“Thank you very much,” Applegate said as he presented the trophy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.
“Oh my god, you’re totally embarrassing me with my disability by standing up. It is well.’
Sadly, the Dead to Me producer-star — who may never act in front of the camera again — lost the trophy for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series to Quinta Brunson of Abbott Elementary.
Christina was married to Schaech from 2001 to 2005, when he filed for divorce, which was finalized in 2007.
The Suitable Flesh actor and Applegate met on the set of Cameron Thor’s 2000 suicide drama The Giving Tree and went on to star in Danny Comden’s 2003 rom-com Sol Goode and CBS’ 2005 film Suzanne’s Diary for Nicholas.
The Hollywood native and her second husband – Dutch bassist Martyn LeNoble – will next celebrate their daughter Sadie Grace’s 13th birthday on January 27, followed by their 11th wedding anniversary on February 23.
It’s unclear if Family Guy executive producer Alex Carter’s potential animated spinoff Married… with Children will still happen after Christina and the other three leads record voiceover for the pilot in 2022.
“(It was) one of the coolest things I’ve ever done,” Applegate confirmed Vanity fair last year.
