Christina Aguilera opens up about her life as the mother of her two children in the new edition of People which fell on Friday.
In a new interview, the “Beautiful” singer-songwriter shared how she helped style her eight-year-old daughter’s long locks, while downplaying her hairstyling skills, and how Summer was the one who pushed her to “learn how to do her hair.”
“She likes to put these little braids in. So every morning I wake up with her before school, trying to use a spiky comb to part her hair in the back,” the New City native explained. York.
It’s at this point that the five-time Grammy Award winner poked fun at her hair styling skills, before giving respectful nods to moms around the world.
“I’m not a hairdresser, let me tell you, but God bless being a mother, and we’ll do anything to make our kids feel good,” she shared.

Aguilera, 42, added that as a parent, “you want to instill the message that they have the real beauty.”
The “Ain’t No Other Man” singer shares summer with his fiancé Matt Rutler, whom he met in 2009 while he was working as a production assistant on the set of his backstage musical film Burlesque with Cher.
They didn’t start dating until the following year, after she filed for divorce from her then-husband, Jordan Bratman, whom she met in 2002 and married three years later.
Aguilera and Bratman’s union also resulted in them welcoming their son Max, now 15, into the world.
It would be another six years until the proud mother gave birth to Summer.
In an age of social media, Aguilera confessed that she has found the need to be very open and forthcoming with her daughter about the pros and cons of powerful platforms.
“I think it’s great to be open to remove the stigma of beauty shaming and make us feel like something isn’t right,” she said of her conversations with Summer in the People interview.
She explained: ‘I’ve always been a preacher of feeling good about yourself, doing what’s right for you. What I do may not be for everyone, and vice versa.
Aguilera also highlighted the positives that can come from using social media platforms like Instagram.
“There are a lot of things that concern us, especially as moms with social media, but I think one of the positives is that we can really support each other, share information, and get a lot of information,” she said.

As the pop superstar was inspecting a venue before her show in Viña del Mar, Chile, she stopped and snapped a photo of Summer sitting on the ground drawing a picture of ‘the audience and mom’s show in Chile’.
“It’s moments like these that really make what I do worth it,” she shared in the caption, along with a red heart emoji. “Making new memories around the world with my family and seeing my daughter capture her experiences in her own creative way has been the greatest reward.”
Aguilera also included a video in her Summer post showing her drawing depicting a stage and her mother’s audience. Wearing various colors, the young creative drew fans in the stands at the live concert at the end of February, which was just a few days ago.
Her daughter also kept a map book, apparently keeping track of where she and her family traveled while on tour with her mother.
