Christina Aguilera reveals surprising collaboration ahead of debut album’s 25th anniversary – after teaming up with Sabrina Carpenter
Christina Aguilera has confirmed that she will be collaborating with rapper Machine Gun Kelly on a special project celebrating the 25th anniversary of her eponymous debut album.
On Thursday, the 43-year-old five-time Grammy winner announced an unexpected collaboration with the 34-year-old My Ex’s Best Friend hitmaker by sharing footage of them in the studio together.
In the video, posted to her Instagram account, the singer can be seen filming herself sitting on a pink suede couch before turning the camera on Machine Gun Kelly, who holds one of her high heels to his ear as if he were answering the phone.
The bilingual artist, who is known for her powerful vocals and rose to fame following the release of her hit song Genie in a Bottle, captioned the post: “HELLO?!
Fans could not contain their enthusiasm and responded en masse in reactions to the collaboration between the musicians.

Earlier this week, Aguilera confirmed that she would be performing live studio versions of her debut album for an episode of Spotify Anniversaries, set for release on September 23.
“I wanted to celebrate the 25th anniversary of my debut album in a way that brought together the past and the present,” she told Rolling Stone. “I’ve always enjoyed re-imagining my songs with different styles and audiences, and playing with sounds and arrangements that show how all music can be timeless.”
In addition to MGK’s help, the mother of two also collaborated with Sabrina Carpenter on one of the tracks.
She called recording this project “both magical and nostalgic” and reflected on some of her “fondest memories of her career.”
“I laughed, I cried, I reconnected with old friends and I made some very special new friends,” she continued. “I hope this anniversary gift is as special for you to look at as it was for me to make.”

In May, it was announced that Christina would be leaving the only record label she ever signed to, RCA Records, after 26 years.

According to Variety, Christina has now signed with 5020 Records, a Latin American record label based in Miami.
Neither the singer nor her former or new record label have spoken publicly about the change, but a spokesperson for 5020 confirmed that Christina has signed with the label.
Fans have been speculating about the label change in recent months, when the 5020 logo appeared on her website.
Her name has been quietly removed from the artist page of the RCA website, officially ending their 26-year collaboration.
