Christian Slater got an ‘ego boost’ from beating Channing Tatum in a push-up contest

Christian Slater got an “ego boost” when he beat Channing Tatum in a push-up contest while filming Zoë Kravitz’s directorial debut Blink Twice.

‘I think I did, about 52 [push-ups] “At that point,” Slater said. “I could have gone on, but I didn’t want to embarrass anyone.”

He clarified that he had done all 52 push-ups “in one go” and joked that the prize he had won was “an ego boost, really.”

‘[It was] “Just a great feeling that I kicked Magic Mike’s ass,” Slater said People. “It was great.”

The Pump Up the Volume star – who welcomed a son with wife Brittany Lopez earlier this year – spoke out in an interview with Collider.

“I held her as a baby when she was very little, so I’ve watched her grow up and become this amazing actress and creative person, and she’s worked with all these amazing directors,” he said of Kravitz.

He said Kravitz had “just a natural talent” for directing.

“And like he said, she let us experiment, have fun. So that was the experience. There was no one with a strong fist,” he added.

“There was a loose, fun, party atmosphere, but when there were serious scenes to be done, she really took the time to sit down with everyone and talk about it and discuss it,” he explained.

He added that Kravitz would get the cast in the mood, saying, “These are important scenes for the story, but let’s talk about how we feel about doing these scenes and how we can make each other feel as safe as possible.”

In addition to Slater and Tatum, the film also stars Naomi Ackles, Geena Davis, Simon Rex, Adria Arjona, Haley Joel Osment, Alia Shawkat and Kyle MacLachlan.

The Heathers actor also shared the last time he was superstitious.

“At the Biltmore Hotel in Miami, our room was on the 13th floor. They said it was haunted, and I thought, ‘Please. Give me a chance. I’ll stay here and I’ll be fine,'” he said. People.

“But there were noises in the middle of the night, doors flying open. I had this horrible nightmare,” he explained.

“I was flailing my arms. I felt like something was trying to grab me. It was pretty intense. We checked out the next day,” he revealed.

This spring, Christian and his wife Brittany Lopez welcomed their second child together, a son.

He and Lopez already have a four-year-old daughter, but her name has not been released.

Slater welcomed his first two children Eliana, 22, and Jaden, 25, during his marriage to journalist Ryan Haddon.
