American star Christian Pulisic should go to a club where he will be the ‘head man’, according to former Manchester City defender Micah Richards.

The 24-year-old winger has had a hugely difficult and disappointing season at Chelsea and it is no secret that he will be leaving Stamford Bridge this summer.

Richards believes Pulisic, who transferred from Borussia Dortmund to Chelsea for $72 million in January 2019, needs to find a club where he will be the go-to guy.

“He has to go somewhere where he has to be the main man,” Richards said during a CBS Sports media call Monday.

“When he plays for the US, he plays differently, he feels like the protagonist. He’s much better than he shows and he needs to be more consistent.’

Former Manchester City defender Micah Richards thinks Pulisic should be the ‘head man’

Pulisic’s time at the west London club has been hampered by injuries, preventing him from securing a regular spot in the starting eleven, and the most recent season was no different.

He scored just one goal and provided two assists in 30 appearances. He started just eight times in the Premier League as he fell out of favour.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher agreed with his fellow pundit, adding that he should have left Chelsea last summer.

‘He has to move on now. Twelve months ago was the perfect time,” Carragher said.

Former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has recently been appointed as the new Chelsea manager

It would be better for his own career if he could continue.

Pulisic has been heavily linked with a move to Serie A and it seems Massimiliano Allegri’s side are the favorites to sign Pulisic in a $25 million deal, reports ESPN.

Chelsea’s Premier League rivals Manchester United and Newcastle, as well as Napoli, AC Milan and Galatasaray, have all been touted as possible destinations for the player struggling to find consistency in West London.

Pulisic is expected to be part of a massive summer exodus following Chelsea’s dismal season and the arrival of Mauricio Pochettino as owner Todd Boehly’s fourth manager.
