Christian Porter has quietly married his attorney partner Karen Espiner during a beachside ceremony in Bryon Bay.

It is the former attorney general’s third marriage and the ceremony will take place just a few months after he and Espiner confirmed their engagement in October 2022.

The couple tied the knot in the seaside town on the north coast of New South Wales over the summer, the Sydney Morning Herald reported. CBD column reports.

It marks Mr. Porter’s third marriage and the ceremony comes just months after the couple confirmed their engagement in October 2022.

Mr Porter served as social services minister between September 2015 and December 2017. He was then promoted to attorney general before retiring while Scott Morrison was prime minister in 2021.

The move came nine months after Porter revealed that he was the anonymous man mentioned in media reports about a 16-year-old girl who had allegedly been raped in 1988.

Mr. Porter denied the allegation and sued ABC for defamation and the case was eventually dropped and no compensation was awarded to the former attorney general.

Mr. Porter and Ms. Espiner began dating in 2021, but were not photographed together until February 2022.

They were photographed after spending six hours dining at the upmarket Mimi’s seafood restaurant in Coogee, in eastern Sydney.

The couple had a cross-country relationship when they began dating.

Mr. Porter practiced law in Perth, Western Australia, while Ms. Espiner worked at her law firm Younes + Espiner Lawyers in Sydney.

Ms Espiner is one of Sydney’s most powerful lawyers and was named Criminal Law Partner of the Year at the Lawyers Weekly Awards 2020.

Much of his practice is dedicated to representing clients in the District Courts and Supreme Courts who have been charged with ‘very serious criminal law matters including murder, sex crimes, drug crimes, felony assaults and felonies. corporatives’, according to the Younes + Espiner Abogados website. .

Mr. Porter and Ms. Espiner began dating in 2021, but were not photographed together until February 2022.

Porter separated from his second wife Jennifer, also an attorney, in January 2020, after 13 years together with the couple, who share two children.

“We’ve been working hard to see what might be possible because, first and foremost, we are loving parents of two wonderful little boys.”

Porter was once considered a possible future prime minister, but ended his political career as an MP after suing ABC and journalist Louise Milligan in a libel case.

Porter stepped down as attorney general after an emotional press conference in March 2021.
